Roof Deck

Type B Deck

At 1.5” deep, Type B Deck provides a balance of strength and economy when used with rigid insulation at least 1” thick. B deck is manufactured from steel conforming to A653 and available with nested and interlocking side-laps, as well as an acoustic deck.

Available finishes include:

  • Standard prime-painted finish in grey covering both sides of the decking
  • Galvanized finish in G40, G60, and G90 coatings
  • Two coats bright white primer bottom with prime-painted (grey) or galvanized top

These prime-painted finishes protect the steel during the installation time when exposing the decking to standard atmospheric conditions. Prime-painted is an impermanent and provisional coating.

Type N Deck

Much stronger than Type B Deck with twice the depth, Type N Deck typically works best for projects where the supporting members need to be spaced far apart to reduce the overall cost. Large structures, like auditoriums and gymnasiums, utilize Type N Deck to span large open spaces where the roofing will be very heavy and costly.

Available finishes include:

  • Standard prime-painted finish in grey covering both sides of the decking
  • Galvanized finish in G40, G60, and G90 coatings
  • Two coats bright white primer bottom with prime-painted (grey) or galvanized top

Prime-painted finishes should be considered impermanent, provisional coatings intended to protect the steel during the installation period while exposed to ordinary atmospheric conditions.

Type A Deck

Type A Deck is one component installed along with thinner, more economical insulation materials. The steel conforms to ASTM AS653 to support roofing insulation and allow maximum top-surface contact. Because it is the least efficient steel roof deck with the lowest strength-to-weight ratio, applications of Type A Deck include repair projects and reroofing instead of new construction.

Composite Deck

As your steel deck supplier, we offer composite deck for use as a concrete pour form. All thicknesses include vertical rib embossments for a composite floor system with superior strength and stiffness. All sizes are made with steel conforming to A653 and are available with nested or interlocking side-laps.

Available finishes for composite decking:

  • Standard prime-painted finish in grey covering both sides of the decking
  • Galvanized finish in G40, G60, and G90 coatings
  • Two coats bright white primer bottom with prime-painted (grey) or galvanized top

Please note: Prime-painted finishes should be considered impermanent, provisional coatings intended to protect the steel during the installation period while exposed to ordinary atmospheric conditions.

  • 1.5” Composite Deck: allows structural members to be spaced over 10’0” o.c. without additional shoring.
  • 2” Composite Deck: allows structural members to be spaced over 12’0” o.c. without additional shoring
  • 3” Composite Deck: allows structural members to be spaced over 14’0” o.c. without additional shoring

Form Deck

Order form deck for your floors and stairways from steel deck supplier, Intsel Steel West. Form deck is ideal for projects without steel or concrete composite requirements and can be used as structural support for insulating roof-fill systems. It also serves as a permanent form for concrete floors or roof slabs.

Steel Joists

K Series Joists

K series joists serve as structural support for floors and roofs of buildings with a few key advantages that make it a top choice through the United States:

  • Affordability: no other products or methods can compete with the affordability of steel joists for many buildings
  • Exceptionally high strength-to-weight ratio when compared to other materials
  • Ready immediately for installation upon delivery to the job site
  • Light weight for a simple and fast erection procedure.

As your steel deck supplier, Intsel Steel West provides K Series Joists with a shop-coat of rust inhibitive primer conforming to the Steel Join Institute specification 3.3.

LH & DLH Series Joists

Longspan (LH) and deep long-span (DLH) steel joists are lightweight, shop-fabricated steel trusses designed to extend the use of joists to spans in excess of those covered by open-web joists.

All LH & DLH joists from Intsel Steel West receive a shop-coat of rust inhibited primer conforming to the Steel Joist Institute specification 102.4
